Using the Excel ROW Function
SummaryThe Excel ROW function is used to return the row number of a reference cell. For example, ROW (B4) would return 4 since cell B4 is in the fourth row in the worksheet. If a reference isn't provided, the function will return the row in which the function was entered.
The COLUMN function can be used if you need to find the column number of a reference cell.
Optional. Reference can be blank, in which case the function returns the row in which it was entered, or you can specify a cell or range of cells.
The reference argument cannot include multiple references.
Usage NotesROW returns the row number of a reference cell.
Entering a Range of Cells
If the reference argument is a range of cells and if ROW is entered as a vertical array, the function will return the row numbers of reference as a vertical array.
